Graceful fucker.

Every year at Comic Con I play a little game with the folks called ‘Geeks and Posers.’
Okay. Definitely I’m a poser, hands up.

Welcome to the Moran-Moriarty household where dinner consists of great deserts, and casual conversations about murder methods.

We all talk about how expressive Martin’s acting is (rightfully so!), but can we talk about Ben’s acting here?

*barges in* YES WE CAN

His acting is always wonderful. I can hardly stand it how good he is. I mean, he is just freaking GOOD. It makes this character so beautifully and contradictorily coherent, it’s like a magic trick. I love him and his beautiful acting.

What I love most of the most is how he gave us an “emotional Sherlock” performance that was really, believably, Sherlock as someone who’s been repressing his emotions for years and years on end, and not just “BC being emotional”. It’s all coherent and it was so freaking hard to do, because he could have overplayed or underplayed it, and he did not, it was in all the twitches, mouth-biting, nose-crunching, staring-in-the-distance, breathing, everything. It’s fascinating. If you just take these gifs, you have stunned-hateful-despiseful-craving-for-revenge-panicked-angry-at-himself, in a handful of seconds, and it is not jarring, it’s so completely Sherlock’s character developing… This level of craft amazes me.

(not even going to start on the voice and intonations)

All of this! And my heart is shattering at the way that he can make decisions in front of the camera with just a few twitches. Just in these four gifs he goes from “my heart is breaking why is this happening to John, how did I ever allow this to happen to John” to “Oh I have an idea” to “oh yes I’m going to shoot you in front of witnesses and I’m going to love it” and then the hard line of the mouth “well, that’s…I’ll be throwing my life away by doing this but it will be worth it for John”
